The construction began in 1936 under the supervision of architect George Dumitrescu and cultural and sporting associations under the auspices of the CFR. Two years later construction is completed, giving the team a copy of Fast younger "Horseshoe" London team Arsenal. Construction of the second lawn started in the mid 80s, but "horseshoe" was closed just 10 years later, increasing the stadium capacity to 19,100 seats, all the seats. Upgrades continued in 2003, the year when the lawn was completely changed, being now among the best in Romania. In the same year was enlarged and covered the official stand and protective fence was replaced with a transparent plastic to improve spectator visibility.
